Christmas in January?

Every Christmas we celebrate God’s greatest gift, Jesus. Jesus lived a perfect life of service, was crucified, and rose from the dead to proclaim that nothing, not even sin and death, can separate us from God’s loving presence. The Holy Spirit has given each of us unique gifts that God uses to help others see and experience Jesus’ love. Many of us, however, have never discovered or used our spiritual gifts. That’s why our congregation is offering the course Discovering God’s Vision for Your Life: You and Your Spiritual Gifts. This course is biblically based and answers questions such as these:

  • To whom are spiritual gifts given?
  • What is the purpose of spiritual gifts?
  • How can I be sure that I have a particular spiritual gift?
  • What does the Bible say about each spiritual gift?
  • What is the difference between the fruit of the Spirit and the gifts of the Spirit?

The course will meet on two consecutive Saturdays in January – the 19th & 26th – from 8:30am until approximately 2:30pm. Pastor Ingold and Jim Nelson will lead the discussions. A registration fee of $17 will cover the cost of course materials. Each session will build on previous sessions, so faithful attendance at all sessions is necessary. Registration indicates a participant’s commitment to attend all sessions. A sign up sheet is available on the table in the narthex. You may also register by calling the church office. For additional information, please contact Jim Nelson (919-900-7751)

Discovering God’s Vision for Your Life: You and Your Spiritual Gifts

To whom are spiritual gifts given? What is the purpose of spiritual gifts? How can I be sure which particular spiritual gifts I have? Are spiritual gifts perma-nent or temporary? What does the Bible say about each of the spiritual gifts?

The above questions are just a few of the ones a new course to be offered in our congregation will answer. Adult Sunday Classes

Please join us during the Sunday School hour for a six week session entitled “Down+Out.” This centered life series helps all of us as God’s people rediscover what Martin Luther uncovered five centuries ago. There are two simple ideas, Justification and Vocation, so evident throughout Scripture, that are the foundation of the Christian Life. Down and out: it’s the life God gives us, the life to which God calls us. This series reintroduces us to the life-changing reality of God’s promises, and points the way to a completely different view of life in the light of where grace takes you. We will meet each Sunday through October 14.
