WANTED: A few good people to serve on the A.P.P.L.E. Seeds Board of Directors. This is a great ministry to be involved in. If you have any questions, please contact Cecilia Rosman at 919-552-8920 or Cecilia.Rosman@yahoo.com

Summer Worship

Throughout the summer months we continue to worship in a combined style in one worship service at 9:45am.  In mid-September we will resume our regular worship schedule of 8:30am Contemporary style and 11:00am Traditional style.

Ghana Orphanages

We have the opportunity to assist in a Foreign Aid Project that is helping orphanages in Ghana. The orphanages need everything necessary to raise happy and healthy children. Clothes, shoes, school supplies, books, over the counter medications, grooming products and toys. There are a couple of people from Wake Medical that made a trip to Ghana in 2010 and are returning in July on a service trip to help orphanages in Ghana and we are looking to help supply them with all the things a child needs and wants. The children range from infants to teenagers. We will have boxes set up in the Narthex for donations of new and gently used items and will be collecting thru the month of June. Please contact Lynda – Lynda_lyle@yahoo.com or Sonja at sonjanordie@yahoo.com with any questions or if you would like to make a donation to help with the shipping costs. Thank you for your support.

Always being made New

Join us after worship as we share a celebration cake – 25 Years as the Evangelical  Lutheran Church in America – the ELCA.  Our national church body, of which APLC is a part, is celebrating 25 years of existence in 2013 – many reasons to celebrate.  Be on the lookout for more information over the next few months.

Lutheran Disaster Response

Affiliates are on the ground in Oklahoma, assessing the immediate and long-term needs of those affected by the tornadoes. Your gifts are needed now to begin coordinating volunteers, rebuilding homes and offering spiritual and emotional care to those in need. Gifts designated to “U.S. Tornadoes” through Lutheran Disaster Response will be used entirely — 100 percent — to help survivors of tornadoes rebuild their lives and livelihoods.   If you would like to help, you may place a check in the offering plate made out to Lutheran Disaster Response, with “U.S. Tornadoes” on the memo line, or you can go to www.elca.org.  Find the photo area titled “Responding to Tornadoes,” and then click on “Gifts.”

Summer Chime Choir

Calling all chimers: let’s make some music this summer! Even if you have no previous chiming experience, you are welcome to join! Amanda (and the rest of the wonderful chimers) will show you how! And guess what?!—This summer we will also play on handbells borrowed for summer use from Holy Trinity in Raleigh. You do not have to know how to read music, but you may in fact learn a bit by the time we are finished. Each chimer plays 1-2 chimes, and when all of the parts are put together beautiful music is made; it is truly a musical representation of the “Body of Christ.” We will rehearse on Wednesday nights 7:00pm-8:00pm beginning on June 5th. If you are interested in being a part of the Summer Chime Choir, contact Amanda: amanda@doveandcross.org.
