children will bring in and collect food to be donated to the Fuquay-Varina Food Pantry.  This Sunday, February 5th, please bring in canned juice.  We are excited to help provide food for those who are in need.

In Isaiah it is the one God who sits above the earth and numbers the stars—it is that God who strengthens the powerless. So in Jesus’ healing work we see the hand of the creator God, lifting up the sick woman to health and service (diakonia). Like Simon’s mother-in-law, we are lifted up to health and diakonia. Following Jesus, we strengthen the powerless; like Jesus, we seek to renew our own strength in quiet times of prayer.

*KOINONIA is a biblical, Greek term (the New Testament was originally written in Greek) meaning: community; communion; communion with; fellowship with; participation in.  Each Sunday when we begin our worship we are greeted by the pastor and in turn we greet one another in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.  That greeting calls us to be in relationship with God and with one another.  By the grace of Jesus Christ, for the love of God and in the communion (Koinonia) of the Holy Spirit we are gathered together for a purpose.  That purpose articulated by our Mission Statement:  We are the church, growing in faith, reaching out, inviting in and serving the needs of all God’s children.
