APLC is located at 7300 Sunset Lake Rd, Fuquay-Varina, NC 27526 [link to Google Map].  You will find ample parking in the back of the church. There are Visitor & Handicapped parking spots as well as many other spots that you can choose.

When you arrive, you can reach the front doors using either the steps or the wheelchair ramp. The building is fully handicap accessible.

The front doors lead direct into the Narthex, a casual gathering space with various spaces for hanging out before and after worship. The doors to the sanctuary will be directly in front of you at the opposite and of the Narthex.

Worship begins with Welcome and Announcements at 9:30 am. In a typical Sunday morning service, we participate by praying, singing, listening to the Bible, confessing our sins, receiving forgiveness, sharing God’s peace, giving an offering, and receiving Holy Communion.

  • When you walk in the main door (located at the back of the church) you will be greeted by a volunteer who can answer any questions you might have and direct you where you want to go.
  • There is a guest book near the front door that you are welcome to sign if you choose, or fill out a Connect Card during worship. Connect cards can be found in the pocket of the chair in front of your seat in worship. Just drop the card in the offering plate to connect with the pastor, sign up for e-news, or request prayer.
  • As you proceed to the sanctuary entrance you will receive a bulletin of announcements, including, learning, worship and service opportunities.
  • As a visitor, we would love to give you a welcome gift that will share additional information about Abiding Presence Lutheran Church (APLC). Please indicate that you are a first time visitor to the pastor or another worship volunteer as you leave the sanctuary after worship.

There is no dress code at Abiding Presence Lutheran Church (APLC). You can expect to see most congregants in casual to business casual attire. On any given Sunday,  you might see some in more formal suits and some in less formal shorts and flip-flops.  All are welcome and please come in attire you find comfortable.

Please sit wherever you like. Ushers will be available if you need assistance. The sanctuary has flexible seating and we can easily accommodate whatever seating you require, including wheelchair space.

  • Our church service combines both contemporary and traditional styles of worship in a single service at 9:30 am.
  • Our praise band is made up of talented volunteers who play acoustic guitar, electric guitar, bass guitar, drums, keyboard, various other instruments, and also talented singers. The Praise Band leads the congregation in worship songs…older ones such as “Sanctuary,” “Thy Word,” and “Shout to the Lord,” as well as newer ones that are currently on Christian radio stations.
  • We typically stand for prayers or singing, and sit for the announcements, children’s sermon and sermon.
  • The service will include opportunities to pray and to sing, to hear God’s word spoken and proclaimed, and to share in the sacrament of Holy Communion.

The words used in worship are displayed on either side of the altar using projectors.

  • APLC offers activity bags filled with crayons and coloring books as children enter the sanctuary. There is also an area in the back of the church, a ‘prayer-ground’, with a children’s table and quiet toys that kids can play with.
  • A Children’s Sermon is offered every Sunday.  Children are invited to join the pastor or another preacher at the front of the church for a child-friendly lesson on one of the bible texts for that day.
  • After the children’s message, APLC offers Children’s Church for kids from Pre-K to 2nd grade.  Pre-K to 2nd-grade kids are invited to join our youth minister as they leave for an age-appropriate lesson. Children will return for Holy Communion and the end of the service.
  • At the end of each service, the children are invited forward to lead the dismissal for the congregation with the words, “Go in Peace. Serve the Lord. Thanks be to God!
  • Please visit the Children & Youth Faith Formation section of our website for additional information on opportunities for youth to grow in their faith.

  • Yes! All are welcome, including children, at communion. This is God’s table, not ours, and God welcomes all to receive this gift of love, grace, and life. If you do not wish to receive communion or your children are not yet ready to receive communion, everyone is still welcome to come forward for a blessing.
  • Ushers will guide congregants when it is time to come forward to receive the bread and red wine or white grape juice of Holy Communion.
  • We celebrate the sacrament of Holy Communion every Sunday.

APLC offers a gluten free option from the center server, which you are welcome to take instead of the bread option.

  • Immediately after worship, all are welcome to join us for some coffee, goodies and fellowship in the Narthex.
  • September – May, adults and children of all ages are invited to attend Sunday School. Please visit our Ministries page for additional information on the faith formation opportunities available.
