About Abiding Presence
Who We Are
At Abiding Presence Lutheran Church, we’re a community of real people seeking to live God’s love in everyday life. Rooted in God’s grace, we gather to grow in faith, serve our neighbors, and share the hope of Christ in Fuquay-Varina and beyond.

A Lutheran Church Community
We are connected to a larger network of Lutheran churches through the North Carolina Synod and the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA). The Lutheran faith was born from a reforming movement within the Catholic Church in the 1500s and has always been focused on God’s grace, the good news of Jesus Christ, and the power of the Holy Spirit at work in everyday life.
The Importance of Partnerships
We believe we are better together and look for opportunities to partner with like-minded organizations to support the good work they are already doing in the world. Here are a few of our partnerships:

Camp Agapé / Kure Beach

Our Values
Grace-Centered
We are a community rooted in God’s grace. In Baptism, we are named and claimed as God’s beloved, and at the table we are fed with the real presence of Christ, not because we are perfect, but because God is. We trust that we are saved by grace through faith, not by our own efforts. Our life of faith is a lifelong journey of growing into that promise. Along the way, we make space for questions, doubts, and honest conversation with scripture and with one another. In all things, we rely on God’s grace to renew, challenge, and sustain us.
Inclusive Christian Community
We value a community where all are welcomed, regardless of race, ethnicity, primary language, sexual orientation, gender identity, ability, socioeconomic status, nationality, immigration status, political affiliation, and all the many identities and experiences that make us who we are. Our diversity is a gift, and we cherish opportunities to learn from and with one another.
Participatory Worship
Worship is at the heart of who we are and what brings us together. It is not something we watch from the sidelines; it is a shared experience that welcomes each of us as we are. Perfection is never the goal; authenticity is. All are welcome at the Lord’s table, and all are invited to participate in ways that feel meaningful. We celebrate diverse leadership in worship that reflects our community's diversity. From the youngest child to the oldest adult, everyone’s presence matters, and everyone has gifts that can enrich our worship.
Generous Service
We believe we are better together. As a community, we can carry far more than any one of us could alone. We are committed to being God’s hands and feet, to the best of our abilities, by caring for one another and serving our wider community with our time, talents, and resources. Together, we practice generosity as a joyful expression of our faith.
