Welcome to Abiding Presence!
A Note from Pastor Kim
Hello friend,
Welcome to Abiding Presence Lutheran Church! We’re glad God has led you to our website, where you can watch a worship service, learn about our ministries, and connect with us.
Abiding Presence is a community of imperfect people who are nourished by God’s perfect love in Jesus Christ and then are sent out to reflect that love in the world. We are a community where people of different ages, religious backgrounds, family structures, and socioeconomic levels come together to “Live God’s love through engagement, growth, and generosity.” At Abiding Presence, you don’t have to have faith all figured out. This is a place where your questions and doubts are welcome, and where you are free to be the person God created you to be.
So, whether you are seeking meaningful worship, spiritual growth, baptism, pastoral care, Christian community, or opportunities to serve God and your neighbor, we hope you will discover that Abiding Presence can be a life-giving community of faith for you.
When you are ready, we would love to get to know you.
Peace and blessings,
Pastor Kim

Your Questions Are Welcome Here
-
Abiding Presence is located at 7300 Sunset Lake Rd, Fuquay-Varina, NC 27526 [link to Google Map]. You will find ample parking in the back of the church. There are Visitor & Handicapped parking spots as well as many other spots that you can choose.
When you arrive, you can reach the front doors using either the steps or the wheelchair ramp. The building is fully handicap accessible.
The front doors lead directly into the Narthex, a casual gathering space with various spaces to hang out before and after worship. The doors to the sanctuary will be directly in front of you at the opposite end of the Narthex.
-
When you walk in the main doors you will be greeted by a volunteer who can answer any questions you might have and direct you where you want to go.
There is a guest book near the front door that you are welcome to sign if you choose, or fill out a Connect Card during worship. Connect cards can be found in the pocket of the chair in front of your seat in worship. Just drop the card in the offering plate to connect with the pastor, sign up for e-news, or request prayer.
As you proceed to the sanctuary entrance, you will receive a bulletin of announcements, including learning, worship, and service opportunities.
As a visitor, we would love to give you a welcome gift that will share additional information about Abiding Presence. Please indicate that you are a first-time visitor to the pastor or another worship volunteer as you leave the sanctuary after worship.
-
There is no dress code at Abiding Presence. You can expect to see most congregants in casual to business casual attire. On any given Sunday, you might see some in more formal suits and some in less formal shorts and flip-flops. All are welcome, so please come in attire you find comfortable.
-
Please sit wherever you like. Ushers will be available if you need assistance. The sanctuary has flexible seating, and we can easily accommodate whatever seating you require, including wheelchair space.

Our church service combines both contemporary and traditional styles of worship in a single service at 9:30 am. Our praise band is made up of talented volunteers who play acoustic guitar, electric guitar, bass guitar, drums, keyboard, various other instruments, and also talented singers. The Praise Band leads the congregation in worship songs…older ones such as “Sanctuary,” “Thy Word,” and “Shout to the Lord,” as well as newer ones that are currently on Christian radio stations.
The service will include opportunities to pray and to sing, to hear God’s word spoken and proclaimed, and to share in the sacrament of Holy Communion. We typically stand for prayers or singing, and sit for the announcements, children’s sermon and sermon.
-
The words used in worship are displayed on large screens on either side of the altar.

Abiding Presence offers activity bags filled with crayons and coloring books as children enter the sanctuary. There is also an area in the back of the church, a ‘prayer-ground’, with a children’s table and quiet toys that kids can play with.
A Children’s Sermon is offered every Sunday. Children are invited to join the pastor or another preacher at the front of the church for a child-friendly lesson on one of the bible texts for that day.
After the children’s message, APLC offers Children’s Church for kids from Pre-K to 2nd grade. Kids are invited to join our youth minister for an age-appropriate lesson. Children will return for Holy Communion at the end of the service.
At the end of each service, the children are invited forward to lead the dismissal for the congregation with the words, “Go in Peace. Serve the Lord. Thanks be to God!“
Please visit the Children & Youth page for additional information on opportunities for youth to grow in their faith.

Yes! All are welcome, including children, at communion. This is God’s table, not ours, and God welcomes all to receive this gift of love, grace, and life. If you do not wish to receive communion or your children are not yet ready to receive communion, everyone is still welcome to come forward for a blessing.
Ushers will guide congregants when it is time to come forward to receive the bread and red wine or white grape juice of Holy Communion. There is also a gluten-free option available.
We celebrate the sacrament of Holy Communion every Sunday.
-
Immediately after worship, all are welcome to join us for some coffee, goodies, and fellowship in the Narthex.
September – May, adults and children of all ages are invited to attend Sunday School. Please click on the Ministries tab at the top of the page for additional information on the faith formation opportunities available.
