Lent 2026
Walking Through Lent in Prayer
Lent is a season of Turning
toward God,
toward one another,
toward deeper awareness of grace
On Wednesdays in Lent, we will gather together in community at 6:15pm to share a soup supper followed by a Spiritual Practices Prayer Workshop and Holden Evening Prayer. Together, we will explore different ways of praying—ancient and embodied practices that help us listen for God, pray with one another, and notice grace in our everyday lives.
We will have an informal soup, salad, and bread supper at 6:15pm in the fellowship hall followed by a Lenten version of Holden Evening Prayer in the sanctuary. Please use the signup below to sign up if you can bring a crock of soup, salad, or bread. You can make the soup yourself, or feel free to bring a crock of soup from a local restaurant. All soups and chili's are welcome. Don't forget that salad kits are available at your local grocery store and are an easy way to contribute to the meal.
Come for one week or for the whole journey.
Come curious. Come weary. Come hopeful.
Join us for a holy, prayerful journey through Lent—one step at a time, together.

Ash Wednesday - February 18
12 noon AND 7pm
On Ash Wednesday, we begin our forty-day journey toward Easter with a day of fasting and repentance. Marking our foreheads with dust, we acknowledge that we die and return to the earth, but we also marked our foreheads with the same sign with which it was marked at baptism - the cross. Ash Wednesday is a reminder that, intentionally returning to our baptismal call, we more intentionally bear the fruits of mercy and justice in the world.
Lenten Alms Giving
From February 18 through April 5, APLC will serve as a Pantry Partner, helping to keep refrigerators and pantries stocked for families staying at the Ronald McDonald House and caregivers who need to remain close to their children during hospital stays.
Throughout Lent, please consider bringing in items listed here, or order from our Amazon wish list and have your items delivered directly to APLC (note: sort the list by custom to see the highest priority items at the top).
We will deliver all the items to the Durham Ronald McDonald house after Easter morning. Thank you for your generosity! Your Lenten giving will make a meaningful difference.
