God’s work our Hands Events: (in conjunction with the larger church)

God’s work. Our hands. It’s a call to action. We are called into action to help others. To show love, respect, and acceptance of our family, friends, neighbors, and community. In September of each year, APLC joins up with other ELCA congregations from across the country in a day of serve. It is an opportunity to celebrate who we are as the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America — one church, freed in Christ to serve and love our neighbor. To get more details on how to serve please contact the church office.

Migrant Worker Meal

Each Sunday evening from June to September St Bernadette’s Catholic Church serves as a host site for a meal that is sponsored by 11 local congregations. APLC is one of these congregations who proudly supports this ministry and invites you to join us as we serve the many families in need of a warm meal. The meal APLC serves is typically the last Sunday of July, but check the online calendar for the most up to date information. Click here to learn more about the migrant ministry at St. Bernadette’s.

Angel Tree

Each December APLC teams up with Wake County DSS to gather gifts of clothing for local families in need of basic essentials. Gifts are then distributed to families by volunteers. Details of this ministry can be found in the APLC E-news starting in mid to late November.

Backpack Buddies

During the summer supplies are collected for students of local schools. The supplies are then given to school leaders who are then able to distribute the supplies to families in need of assistance.
