Main Text:  John 17:20-26 (Acts 16:16-34; Revelation 22:12-14,16-17,20-21)

Why does our witness and our lives matter? God is going to win anyway. What difference does it make if the victory is assured? The difference we make is not on the ultimate outcome which has been assured by Christ. The difference we make is in the people we are able to invite into the grace and love of God through our witness. Throughout the book of Revelation and through all the battles and devastation, God’s invitation is always present. It is the witnesses that endure through all things by the grace of God that open the door for others to enter into this same relationship with God through Jesus Christ. The purpose of our witness is as Jesus says in the Gospel of John. It is “so that the world may believe.” The world will know that we are disciples by the witness of our lives in word and deed. We are called to be witnesses so that the world may believe!
