Main Text: Romans 13:11-14 (Isaiah 2:1-5; Matthew 24:36-44)
Paul is urging the people of God to wake up and get ready. What is one of the first things we do after we wake up? The thing that moves us from our wake up routine to heading out of the house is taking a shower and getting dressed. Each Sunday when we begin, our confession or thanksgiving for baptism is remembering the cleansing waters of baptism in which we move from death to life. From that moment forward in the service, we begin getting dressed and ready to enter into the life Christ called us to live. Paul says, “Put on the Armor of light.” We are called to be light in the darkness. We are to be hope for the hopeless. It is time to wake from sleep and stay awake. Abiding Presence is called to Live God’s Love. Lets bathe in the baptismal waters of God’s grace and put on the armor of light and walk in the ways of Christ.
